Back To Listings

Location:  Marathon County Historical Society, Wausau

Comprised of items that were once part of daily life, the exhibit brings back old standards like the vinyl record album, trading stamps, and afternoon bridge parties, all of which are now considered old-fashioned or obsolete. Trace the history of recorded music from cylinder records in the 1890s to 8-track players in the 1960s to the MP3 players of today. Learn the role that the milkman played in many communities and why the corner grocery store was a central part of the neighborhood. Join us to explore the past and the changes influenced by technology and popular culture. Tuesdays thru Thursdays: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm; Saturdays and Sundays: 1:00 thru 4:30 pm. www.marathoncountyhistory.com
