"Marathons of Wisconsin" Challenge to Debut in 2014

Race series dares runners to participate in five events, including two in Madison, to earn extra bling

Runners looking to push themselves have a new way to earn bragging rights and add to their medal collection in 2014. “Marathons of Wisconsin,” a brand new challenge, asks runners to participate in five Wisconsin marathons or half marathons throughout the course of the year. Athletes who complete all five events will receive a commemorative medal for their efforts.

In order to have the ability to say that they truly have run Wisconsin, runners will need to complete either a full or half marathon in all five events. Each runner must complete at least one full marathon in one of the following races:

  • Icebreaker Indoor Marathon & Half Marathon, Milwaukee, January 2014 (or January 2015)
  • Wisconsin Marathon & Half Marathon, Kenosha, May 2014
  • Madison Half Marathon, Madison, May 2014 (no full marathon offered)
  • Fox Cities Marathon, Appleton, September 2014
  • Madison Marathon & Half Marathon, November 2014

Athletes who find themselves unable to register for the 2014 Icebreaker Indoor Marathon and Half Marathon due to that event’s popularity still have the opportunity to complete the Marathons of Wisconsin challenge by participating in the 2015 edition of Icebreakers. All other races, however, must be completed in one calendar year to be eligible for the medal at the end of the challenge.
