Triple Crown Sports Adds Tourney to Run Alongside D-III CWS

Memorial Day weekend offers a little extra time to tackle something special, and the motivation to seek the unique with school out or nearly so.

Triple Crown Sports has established a new Midwest baseball tournament for the holiday window called the Dream Big Baseball Shindig, based in Appleton, WI and held May 23-25, 2015, during the same time frame as the NCAA Division III World Series. In the spirit of TCS’ SlumpBuster (which runs in Omaha during the D-I CWS), this new tournament will be formatted to allow teams to attend the D-III event, held at Fox Cities Stadium in north Appleton.

The Shindig features age groups from 9u through 14u in an open division format. Teams in the 13u division have the option to play 54-80 or 60-90, and all teams get a three-game guarantee. The 14u bracket will include games at two top-notch college facilities – Lawrence University’s Whiting Field and UW-Oshkosh’s Alumni Stadium. Triple Crown will provide teams with special ticket packages for the D-III World Series.

“We look for this to become an annual event during the D-III College World Series that will draw teams regionally,” said TCS Baseball Director John Casale. “Our hope is to provide a competitive tournament as well as making the travel baseball community aware of the very strong talent at the D-III level. In working with the Fox Cities CVB and the Panthers Baseball travel club, we hope to add a hospitality function for club coaches during the World Series, and a skills and measurement session for players.”
